Media Access Workshop
The Seattle Association of Black Journalists presents a Media Access Workshop for Community and Social Organizations seeking increased media coverage.
In Session II, Participants will:
* Meet with local journalists: Phyllis Fletcher, Reporter, KUOW Public Radio; Robert Jeffrey Jr., Publisher/CEO, Colors NW Magazine; Shawnee Smith, Media Coordinator, Office of Governor Chris Gregoire; Joyce Taylor, KING 5 TV Anchor and Reporter; and Lornet Turnbull, Reporter, The Seattle Times.
* Learn how stories make it into the media – how stories get assigned, the editing process and decision-making.
* Hone your skills at identifying the best media source for your story.
* Develop your ability to quickly tell your story to capture the interest of a journalist.
* Create a working media release that you can use immediately and as a template for future stories.
* Network with working journalists in the Seattle area.

Saturday, October 18, 2008, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon
University of Washington, Seattle Campus
The workshops are limited to 25 participants to accommodate 1-on-1 interactions.
